About Us - Who We Are

When Mick White, a Northampton based businessman, began a small packaging company with his wife Sheila in 1991, he would have laughed at any suggestion that 17 years down the line his company would be employing over 100 people across three sites in Northamptonshire. With more than 250,000 sq ft at their disposal, Dalepak Ltd service some of the world's biggest and best-known blue chip companies.

Now though, Dalepak do a great deal more than just contract packing. We have expanded our product portfolio to include Freight Forwarding, HM Customs Bonded Warehousing, Distribution Worldwide, Client Customer Care, Client Sales Administration, Product Quality Control, Field Marketing, In-Store Merchandising and selling clients' products on the Internet as well as providing consultancy in many fields.

So where did it all start? Mick had previously been in business in the engineering and sheet metal fabrication trade but was looking for a new challenge. It was Sheila who came up with the idea of "putting things in boxes". They explored the idea further and found there was a market. The company started trading in 1991 in a 2,000 sq ft unit in Northampton town centre and soon secured a contract with a firm in London. Dalepak quickly started to expand and in 1993 Mick and Sheila were joined on the board of directors by their son Gary and his friend Michael Finn. By this time the company had moved into larger premises, a 30,000 sq ft warehouse in the St James area of town.

Dalepak's big break came with a phone call from the leading car manufacturer Ford Motor Company, who had literately plucked the company's phone number out of the Yellow Pages!! "Everyone needs a break in life and this was ours" admits Mick. A presentation to show what Dalepak had to offer the client soon followed, and a six months trial contract was won. Years later Dalepak are still working for them only on a very much larger scale. We now receive and process their goods from Germany, Belgium, Turkey and Thailand.

Dalepak Ltd are now based on the Brackmills Industrial Estate on the edge of Northampton. The company have over 250,000 sq ft of warehousing capacity and employ more than 100 dedicated staff. Despite their growth, Dalepak still keep a family run atmosphere with annual parties for all the staff in the summer and at Christmas time.

As Mick says "To get to where we are now you have to have a dedicated and professional team of staff run by a dedicated and professional team of managers and we have both".

From Sheila's small idea of "putting things in boxes" Dalepak have grown into one the leading contract packing companies in the UK.
