Environmental Policy & Recycling
Dalepak operates an Integrated Management System for the control of Quality, Health & Safety, & Environmental activities.
The System is registered through BSI as meeting the requirements of PAS 99 - including ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001. Within this IMS we have a formally stated Corporate Policy to involve all management, staff and contractors in safeguarding the Environment - minimizing the Company's impact, preventing pollution, and recycling waste.
The Company's activities are essentially " clean " - we do not produce any Hazardous Wastes - but we do generate significant quantities of waste Cardboard, Wood, and Plastic packaging materials.
100% of waste cardboard, plastic and wood are recycled, using Licensed Service Providers. None is sent to Landfill.
Cardboard and plastic are compacted and baled in a conventional manner. For wood, the Company have purchased a large crushing machine - equipment not often seen - which pulverises crates and pallets to allow recycling into chipboard etc. This investment demonstrates serious commitment to our recycling policy. One member of staff is employed full time processing waste for recycling.
Typically, 400 Tonnes of Cardboard, 30 Tonnes of Plastic, and 300 Tonnes of Wood are processed for recycling annually.
(The bulk of the Cardboard originally belongs to Customers - reject following decanting of product for re-packing. Company owned cardboard is continually monitored to ensure compliance with Producer Responsibility Regulations, confirming that we are currently below the threshold requiring Registration.)
